| Bio: | Name: Rogue (Marie DeCanto) Fandom: X-Men Physical description: medium height, slender with some curves, chestnut hair with distinctive white streaks in the front and green eyes. (pb Anna Paquin) Mutant Abilities: Absorption of others memories and abilities through skin to skin contact, flight, invulnerability, enhanced strength. Character History. (note: X-Men, as many will know, is a vastly complicated fandom with many different universes. This version of Rogue will be taking elements from both the movie and the comics in an attempt to grossly over simplify the history!) Marie’s powers of absorption first kicked in when she was 16 years old, kissing her boyfriend for the first time. She suddenly drained all of his memories and his life force, leaving him in a coma for a number of weeks, and remnants of his personality in her head. Terrified she fled her home town in Mississippi and lived as a run away for a number of months. After some time living rough, Marie, now going by the name Rogue, came across Raven Darkholme, aka Mystique, who, seeing the possibilities with the young mutant, took her in and made her part of her Brotherhood of Mutants (consisting at the time of Mystique herself, Destiny, Sabertooth, Avalanche, Toad, Blob and Quicksilver) Eager to please Mystique, Rogue quickly became used to the role of terrorist, often fighting the X-Men. Eventually she came up against another mutant, the flying indestructible Ms Marvel. When fighting Ms Marvel Rogue held on too long and ended up permanently absorbing her abilities and the very angry personality. Unable to cope she left the Brotherhood and turned to her former enemy, the X-Men for help. Although unwilling at first, the X-Men did take her in and she proved to be a valuable ally, becoming close friends with other young mutants; Iceman, Shadowcat, Colossus, Jubilee and Pyro, along with a feisty on/off relationship with Gambit and a close mentor relationship with Wolverine. However, the Brotherhood, under the returned former leader Magneto, kidnapped Rogue and attempted to use her abilities to power a machine that would turn humans into mutants, which would eventually kill her. It was this machine that caused the white streaks in her hair. She was rescued by the X-Men, but the betrayal of Mystique hurt Rogue deeply. This betrayal was enhanced when Pyro chose to abandon the X-Men and join the Brotherhood. Rogue has never been able to control her abilities, leaving her unable to touch anyone without killing them. She is also stuck with the lingering personalities of everyone she has absorbed in her head, leaving some to fear if it will eventually drive her mad. Personality wise she is a sassy southern gal, who is in reality very lonely. (Disclaimer: Rogue is the property of Marvel comics and Anna Paquin belongs to herself. Since I am neither, I own neither!
